Tansley Electrical completed the lighting, power, mechanical electrical and fire alarm systems for the University of Otago’s new Dental School. The purpose-built building commenced in September 2016, by Leighs Construction, was a huge undertaking for everyone involved. The 8,000m2 clinical services building connects to the rear of the Dental School’s existing 10,000m2 Walsh building.
With the undergraduate and postgraduate teaching facilities, the building includes over 200 dental chairs, and all their accompanying power outlets to allow lecturers, undergraduates and postgraduates to complete dental work. The facility houses key clinical services including an innovative surgery design and a variety of specialist dental clinics including general practice, oral surgery, orthodontics, paediatrics, special needs, radiology and primary care.
